Abstract: This presentation looks at the many aspects of changing an SCM infrastructure. The presentation discusses objectives, considerations and challenges. Mini-case studies are used to examine difficulties, successes, and optimisations for converting from products such as ClearCase to SubVersion.

Robert Cowham has been in software development for over 20 years in roles ranging from programming to project management. He continues his involvement in development projects but spends most of his time on SCM Consultancy and Training for Vizim Worldwide. He is the Chair of the Configuration Management Specialist Group of the British Computer Society, has a BSc in Computer Science from Edinburgh University and is a Chartered Engineer (CEng MBCS CITP).

Neal Firth has over thirty years of experience in high-tech industries ranging from start-up to Fortune 500. He has assumed both individual contributor and management roles during the design and development of hardware and software systems.

Neal's career has focused on the processes, procedures, automation, and tools that increase quality and productivity. His early work with hardware microcode simulation was chronicled as part of Tracy Kidder's Pulitzer prize winning book: "The Soul of a New Machine". Today he spends most of his time on SCM Consultancy and Training for Vizim Worldwide.
