pure-systems GmbH is the leading provider of software product line and variant management solutions. The company, based in Magdeburg, Germany, was founded in 2001, and provides both software products and services.
pure-systems works in software variant management, providing customers with
methods and tools to create multiple versions of software-intensive systems in a single product line, instead of developing each version separately. pure-systems'solutions are based on an enterprise-wide approach to maintaining variability and variant information.
Customers include Audi, Bosch, Continental, Daimler, Danfoss, Honeywell,
Samsung and Siemens. Partners include Telelogic, IBM, MathWorks, Fraunhofer
FIRST, and HOOD Group.
pure-systems' - Solution
pure-systems developed the pure::variants framework based on many years of
research into Software Product Lines (SPL) and Product Line Engineering (PLE)
and of applying the research in commercial projects. The framework manages and links variability and variant knowledge in all phases of product life cycles.
Organizations use the framework to capture product configuration knowledge
expressed in clear terms. The stored knowledge can then be shared and used
across the organization by all stakeholders, such as management, development, marketing, support, and quality assurance. Based on this knowledge, new products can be quickly and easily modelled, configured and created.
Using pure::variants for systematic software reuse leads to shorter time to markets for new products and can reduce the total cost of development significantly. Using mature components and proven solutions instead of newly developed components leads to better quality. pure::variants can also reduce the cost of maintenance, as problem fixes made in a particular component can be automatically propagated to all products reusing that component.
